Why do we recycle?
We believe that there is far too much waste in our
society.
Every day Americans throw
away vast amounts of what many call waste. Much of it is not
waste, but is instead a great resource. Glass,
plastics, metals, paper, and cardboard can all be recycled and made
into new products, conserving Earth's resources. Here are
some interesting facts:

Every three months Americans
throw away enough aluminum to rebuild our entire commercial fleet
of aircraft.

Recycling one glass jar saves
enough energy to light a 100-watt light bulb for four
hours.

Recycling one aluminum can saves
enough energy to power a TV for three hours.

One ton of recycled paper uses
64% less energy, 50% less water, and creates 74% less air
pollution; it saves 17 trees and creates five times more jobs than
one ton of paper made from virgin wood pulp.

Offsets
Although recycling saves a lot of energy and
keeps carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, we don't like the
emissions that come from our truck. In 2007 we offset half our
carbon emissions by buying green tags from Zephyr Energy. To
